A Loving Tribute

Liam

November 1994 to February 29, 2008

Liam began in my home the way that most dogs do, as a foster dog. A rescue from a shelter, I started out with the intentions that he would be adopted out to a nice family. He had other ideas. Every weekend we trotted out to Pet Adoption Network's adoption event and I placed him in a crate to await his new family. If I stayed at the event he would turn his back to the public and stare at me, if I dared leave his sight he would bark and bay until I returned. If I tried to leave the adoption event I would soon get a call to return to get him as he would not stop barking. Soon it became fruitless to even attempt to show him, even if a family did show interest he would turn his back on them as he only had eyes for me. Finally I gave in and the rest is history, he lived with me until it was time to say goodbye. I had five beautiful years with him and I wouldn't trade a minute. He fit in beautifully with my family and gave me 100% every day. Especially at the end he tried so hard to fight the inevitable and rallied each time we made the "final" appointment. I couldn't have asked for a better friend, and there surely is a hole in my heart that he once held. I miss him terribly and wait for the day when we will meet again.
